Decorative Pillow Project

Seeing all the great ideas on Pinterest inspired me to make something. (OK, I'm always inspired to make something!) I really liked these made of old T-shirts, and a friend referred me to this project, made of felt and beads.

Away I went to Hobby Lobby to buy fabric and felt. I purchased some I like in colors to match my bedroom. These pillows will be for the bed. I made simple envelope style pillow covers.

Using an old T-shirt and felt and beads, I crafted the flower accents for the pillows. I was having so much fun I didn't take photos during the process. Here are some photos of the finished product.

Staycation: Petit Jean State Park

Instead of going somewhere on vacation, I stayed local and visited a nearby State Park. I have been here before, and love the hiking trails and the views from the overlooks. Here are some photos I took while I was there.

Hiked to Cedar Falls. It was very dry as we haven't had much rain lately.

Completed Week In The Life Album

Putting It Together

Now that I have photographed my week, and documented the details, it is time to create the album.
I didn't use any digital templates to format my album (aside from re-sizing photos). I like Ali's use of the large photo and the divided page protector to hold smaller photos and bits of life. My layout for the last page of each day, a collage of photos, is based on her design format. I used the center area to include a quote about life.

For accent paper, I used a paper pad from Hobby Lobby (chosen because I like the color scheme, especially for a summer album). I created some accents and journal cards with PSE. I coordinated the colors to match the paper pad. These were just printed and cut out and added to the pages. I also typed out the quotes to coordinate.

Here is a look at some of the completed pages:

Week In The Life Sunday

I started Week In The Life last Sunday, 7/24, so yesterday was my last day. Since I didn't start the blog in time to post Sunday, I am posting it now. It will appear as the first day in my album.

Sunday starts with church. It is always Mom and I, sometimes Dad or my brother make it into town to go with us.

After church, Mom and I go to Kroger to get groceries. Since she works on weekend, it is time that we can visit while she is in town.

Quick trip home to put away the groceries, and turn on the sprinkler. Mom is going to cook breakfast, and it is Dad's birthday, so I head out there to eat and visit.

We have a good breakfast, and my niece Lizzie is there to join us.

After hanging out a while, I head back home to turn off the sprinkler and do a little housework. In the afternoon, I have some strawberry Kool-Aid and some strawberry bread I picked up at the local Farmer's Market.

The evening is spent relaxing and watching Big Brother, and getting ready for the work week.

That finishes up my Week In The Life project. Tomorrow I hope to make some progress on the album. Photos are ordered and will arrive later this week, then I can put it all together!

Week In The Life Saturday

Saturday is the last day of my week, I started this project last Sunday. I will post Sunday's photos tomorrow.

Iced coffee! It is so hot here (100's!), I like hot coffee in winter, but iced in summer.

Started with the typical Saturday routine, a trip to Wal-Mart, then the library. Got a few things at Wal-Mart, and then checked out a few books at the library, including some back issues of Creating Keepsakes for inspiration!

After that, I went to Dad's to eat breakfast. He had pancakes and sausage. My brother and nephew were there, also, it was great to see them.

The cat always wants to go on the screened porch. He hasn't been going as much since it is so hot, but there he was looking at the door today.

I went out, too, for a little while to read a book. It was really hot, so we didn't stay out long. I love it on cooler evenings in spring and fall, though.

Worked on some page elements that I am making for this album in Photoshop Elements. I picked a paper pack from my stash to use, and have made some things to go with it. I can't wait to put this album together!

Had leftovers for dinner, and finished reading my book. It was a low-key Saturday evening, but that is typical here!

Week In The Life Friday

Hello Friday!

I took the most photos so far this week today.

It was a short day at work, since I put in longer days earlier in the week. Worked on setting up a group of collegiate merchandise and some BBQ items for tailgating (can't believe fall is right around the corner!)

My tool cart at work. It started the week empty!

When I got home I ate a quick lunch (leftover spaghetti) and then worked on editing some photos to use on some layouts and in a summer mini book. (The photo on the screen looks funny at this angle, like a negative. Not at all what it looked like on screen!)

After that, I worked a little on this last week's Project Life layout.

Made some Lemonade flavored Kool-Aid.

Heard thunder outside, was hoping we would get rain (we REALLY need it!). Had to go out at take some photos of the clouds.

While I was out, I took some shots of the crepe myrtle out front.

We didn't get any rain, it just thundered around a while. Found the cat on the bed on top of some clothes. He was posed like a Sphinx!

Last time I did this project, I included a photo of my refrigerator, so thought I would take on this time around to see what has changed.

Did a little house work, then settled in for some reading. It was actually a little cold (the ac vent blows close to my chair, so I put on a blanket.

That sums up my Friday.

Week In The Life Thursday

Welcome to Thursday!

I took less photos at work today, it wasn't as eventful as the previous days. We are finished with the large projects. I do have one of Starbucks coffee, my boss got a free one because they made hers wrong, and I was the lucky recipient!
Screen capture of today's weather.

After work, I stopped to fuel up the car. I am hoping prices go down in the near future!!!

For dinner, I seasoned some potato chunks with ranch dressing/dip mix and roasted them in the oven. I also put in some squash seasoned with salt and pepper. Not too well balanced, but yummy!

Watered the petunias in the hanging basket out front. They were overdue, especially in this heat we have been having!

Then, time to relax, looking at some magazines from Mom. Worked on this blog post while watching Big Brother.

That sums up my Thursday. Over halfway through the week now, hooray, it is almost the weekend!
